Manuel Rego's love of photography began in 1993 on a trip to the U.S. Virgin Islands.

In preparing for a cruise with the members of his family, on a whim he purchased a Vivitar 35mm point and shoot camera to record moments from the vacation trip. Once there, the views of the ocean and the stunning sunsets afforded by the ship in full sail, the beautiful beaches of Puerto Rico, and the amazing crystal clear waters of St. Thomas were all the inticement needed for him to become addicted to the world of photography.

In the year 2000, he purchased his first SLR, a Canon Rebel 2000 for the greater control and image quality it afforded. Under the coaxing of long time friend and mentor, Jeff Marshall, Manuel began experimenting with some basic portraiture.

Around this time the digital revolution in photography was starting to take place, and in January of 2003 he purchased a Sony DSC-F717. A self-taught photographer, the advent of digital photography allowed him to hone his skills with relative ease.

Manuel's love of glamour photography started in 2003 when Liz Rowe, a former co-worker of his, asked him to photograph her and her clothing for a retail web site that she was creating. That chance opportunity was the impetus that started Manuel down the road that he currently is on today.

"As my friends can attest to, I'm a bit of a perfectionist. I'm also a self-confessed computer geek. When I was photographing Liz I was using a Sony F717, and I very quickly learned the limitations of that camera while on location! Although her and I were happy with the photos, I knew I could do a lot better. It almost became a mission to improve the quality of my work, and to see how far I could push myself to improve."

In the years following, his interests started leaning towards studio lighting (both inside a studio, as well as using studio lighting techniques outdoors). His collection of SLR cameras has grown substantially since as well.

Manuel has had the opportunity to have worked with some of the Boston area's top models, as well as some of the local region's top acts including "Street Magic Acapella", "Vera Mesmer", as well as the Providence, RI group "Hemlok". Other clients include DJ Madame Sophie La Fetish Dolly, Bristol County Customs, as well as private glamour sessions for individuals who desire photographs of themselves for either personal use, or to give to a loved one as a gift.

"For me, my portrait and glamour photography isn't about creating a pretty photo. It's about preserving a part of that person's personality, their essence if you will, from a moment in time. Capturing the moment is only a small part of that; it is also showing the individuals in their best light as well".
